There's nothing quite like getting down and dirty with the camera. It's always a rush of excitement walking on set with your equipment in hand, ready to see what your creativity will come up with; it's like a painter amidst a blank canvas, a sculptor presented with a lump of clay, or a composer sitting down with blank sheet paper. For those of us in the creative arts, we live and breathe in these moments with a sense of purpose and anticipation. Being presented with a challenge is a chance to push what you know and create something that was even better than the time before. This might sound intimating to some, but it's built into our DNA and as we strive for a greater level of breakthrough in each project, we encounter a glimpse of the perfection that all of our creativity came from.
This particular project is for "City on a Hill" church located in beautiful Boulder, Colorado. They decided to build a farm using the immense span of land that belonged to the church and the many volunteers that have a heart and passion for local food. This is certainly one unique place and it's just a glimpse of what could happen if people in the church rolled up their sleeves and became involved in the world around them. Make a careful exploration of who you are and the work you have been given, and then sink yourself into that. Don't be impressed with yourself. Don't compare yourself with others. Each of you must take responsibility for doing the creative best you can with your own life.
